The All Progressives Congress has confirmed that it reached out to opposition figures, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this on Tuesday while receiving a delegation led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, from the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development.
Yilwatda said the ruling party had been engaging stakeholders within and outside the APC as part of efforts to secure wider support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, the APC approached Adeleke after defeating the party’s candidate in the Osun State governorship election and appealed to him to work for Tinubu’s re-election.
He said a similar approach was made to Soludo in Anambra State after the APC lost the governorship election to the APGA candidate.
The APC chairman also confirmed that the party appealed to Wike to support Tinubu in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.
Yilwatda said the party’s outreach was not limited to its political interests, stressing that it was aimed at promoting what the APC considers the national interest.
He added that the ruling party would continue to engage Nigerians across political divides as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
