Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters have been asked by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to allocate the party’s presidential ticket to the southern portion of the nation in the 2027 election.
Wike made this statement late on Monday while reading a communiqué following a gathering of important party stakeholders known as the “Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP.”
“In the spirit of fairness, inclusion, federal character principles and respect for our party constitution, the Party must make an unequivocal pronouncement zoning its presidential candidate to the South in the 2027 elections after the unbroken years of Northern President under President Muhammadu Buhari,” the communiqué stated.
“In accordance with the provisions of our party constitution, notices of meetings of the National Convention, National Executive Committee, National Caucus, and National Working Committee may only be issued by the National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu. Accordingly, any notices not issued by him and any actions based on them, including letters to INEC, are void and have no effect at all.
Wike added that Sam Anyanwu is acknowledged by the organization as the National Secretary of the party.
It concluded that, “to finally arrest the inexorable drift towards extinction in our party, the party must, without further delay, respect the judgment of the Supreme Court. As a result, we firmly declare Senator Sam Anyanwu to be our great party’s legitimately elected and serving National Secretary.
