Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that despite the internal crises, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not die.
When Wike convened important party stakeholders on Monday night under the aegis of “Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP,” he made this statement.
Former State lead representatives Ifeanyi Uguanyi of Enugu, Samuel Ortom of Benue, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia were among those in attendance.
A few zonal and state party executives, former Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda, current and past federal and state MPs, and PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu were also there.
Speaking at the gathering, Wike stated that the stakeholders who are worried are those who have always and continue to believe in the party’s existence.
“All of you here are those who are committed to the survival of our party not just on TV talking or on the newspapers talking but but on all levels of the organization.
Thanks to the efforts of the G5 State lead representatives, this nation is now stable. You might detest us, or you might enjoy us. In actuality, this nation would have been in trouble if the G5 had not made the choice that we did.
“We still stand by that judgment because it was the correct thing to do, regardless of who the benefactor was.
“We would not be where we are now if the party had paid attention to what we had to say. We have persisted in telling the party to respect the nation’s and the party’s constitution.
“That, as an opposition party, we cannot continue to act with impunity. No opposition party acts with impunity. Our goal is not to condemn them to hell, but to keep appeasing people and bringing them together.
“Let us not allow greed, let us not allow ego to kill our party,” he stated.
