Prominent PDP officials have called for the party to keep the zoning arrangements from its 2021 convention..
They did this while insisting that the National Chairman’s job must stay in the North Central.
Under the sponsorship of PDP Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders, the leaders who support Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, convened in Abuja on Monday evening.
They demanded that a new South-East Zonal Congress be held, that congresses be held in Anambra and Ebonyi States, and that a local government congress be held in Ekiti State.
They also called for respect for the court-recognized results of the South-South Congress, which was convened in Calabar, Cross River State, on February 22, 2025.
These demands were contained in a communique of the meeting and were read by former state lead representative of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.
According to the communique, the leaders said members of the party would be disenfranchised and the National Convention invalid if these demands are not met.
Wike, PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and former Abia, Benue, Ekiti, and Enugu State lead representatives Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom, Ayo Fayose, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi were among those in attendance.
Also at the meeting were the House of Representatives Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda; Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule.
The National Assembly’s current and previous members were also in attendance, along with the chairmen of the PDPs in Abia, Benue, FCT, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers States, as well as the North Central and South-South National Vice Chairmen, Abdulrahman Mohammed and Dan Orbih.
