The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, yesterday, expressed a clear vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, endorsing them as the exclusive candidates for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Additionally, the Chairman of Ughelli South Political Colonels, John Evwenode, reiterated his group’s dedication to the APC, committing to ensure a complete victory for the party in Ughelli South during the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement occurred during a well-attended APC Stakeholders Meeting at Government House, Asaba, which gathered prominent leaders of the party, including current and former federal and state lawmakers, commissioners, local council chairmen, and party officials, along with influential political figures from Delta’s three senatorial districts.
The motion for the confidence vote was introduced by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and supported by Victor Ochei, the former Speaker of the House of Assembly.
In presenting the motion, Keyamo lauded Tinubu’s “bold reforms and transformative leadership,” highlighting the removal of the petrol subsidy as a prudent policy decision that redirected billions towards essential national infrastructure.
“Just two days ago, the President sanctioned $1 billion for the revitalization of the Warri port and other projects.
He also referenced other significant national initiatives, such as the Lagos/Calabar coastal road and the reconstruction of Lagos Airport. These are direct outcomes of the savings from subsidy removal. The President has demonstrated himself to be a wise manager and a visionary leader,” Keyamo stated.
He further praised Oborevwori for his forward-thinking leadership and the extensive infrastructural advancements throughout the state.
Consequently, Keyamo proposed that “Delta APC passes a vote of confidence in Tinubu and Oborevwori, and designates them as the party’s exclusive candidates for the 2027 general election.
In support of the motion, which received unanimous approval, Ochei praised the inclusive governance and developmental contributions of Tinubu and Oborevwori throughout Nigeria and Delta, respectively. He emphasized that “the people of Delta and the South-South are firmly behind the President and the governor in their vision for a revitalized Nigeria.
During his address, Oborevwori expressed profound appreciation to the APC stakeholders for the trust placed in him and Tinubu, committing to persist in executing his development agenda for the state.
Evwenode made this announcement while leading members of the Political Colonels on a familiarization visit to the Chairman of Delta APC, Omeni Sobotie, at the party’s state secretariat in Asaba.
He stated that the purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the group to the state leadership and to showcase its readiness to collaborate with the party’s structures at all levels.
“We are here today to align ourselves with the state leadership of our esteemed party and to assure you of our unwavering loyalty,” Evwenode remarked. “The Ughelli South Political Colonels are dedicated to the growth, unity, and success of the APC at every level.”
He further noted that the group has initiated grassroots mobilization efforts to secure a decisive victory for the APC in Ughelli South. “We have committed to returning to our local council to reinforce our grassroots structure in accordance with your guidance, sir. Our objective is straightforward: to deliver Ughelli South 100 percent for the APC in 2027,” he added.
In response, Sobotie praised the group for its commitment and urged the leaders to maintain unity and be receptive to new members, highlighting that unity is the party’s most significant asset as the next elections approach.
