Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja following a notably successful diplomatic mission where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and concluded strategic discussions in Germany.
Throughout the week-long international engagement, the Vice President articulated President Tinubu’s national statement advocating for comprehensive reforms within the United Nations.
Additionally, he advocated for Africa’s sovereignty over its $700 billion worth of mineral resources and reinforced strategic partnerships with the United Kingdom, the Gates Foundation, and various other international stakeholders.
Subsequently, VP Shettima held a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, during which he received commendation for Nigeria’s pursuit of a permanent seat on the Security Council.
In a separate engagement, he presented the nation’s $200 billion energy transition opportunity to global investors.
The Vice President also reassured the Nigerian diaspora community of the administration’s commitment to robust engagement in the policies and programs of President Tinubu prior to his discussions in Germany.
