A chieftain of the Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bashir Zakariya, tragically lost his life in a car accident on the Zaria-Kaduna highway on Thursday.
At the time of his passing, Zakariya held the position of SDP chairman for Zone One Senatorial District in Kaduna State.
According to party officials, the late Zakariya was en route from Zaria to Kaduna when the unfortunate crash occurred on the heavily trafficked highway, resulting in his immediate death.
The Publicity Secretary of the SDP in Kaduna State released a statement honoring the late Zakariya, describing him as a “man of integrity, courage, and vision” whose dedication to justice and democracy motivated many both within and outside the party.
He noted that the deceased was a champion of truth, spoke with conviction, and dedicated himself to the growth of the SDP in Zone One and beyond.
In the aftermath of the accident, the SDP in Kaduna State urged both the state and federal governments to enhance measures aimed at reducing the frequent accidents occurring on the Zaria-Kaduna Expressway.
