The Rivers State Police Command says it has recorded another breakthrough in its campaign against violent crime with the arrest of a suspected armed robber and the recovery of firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Blessing Agabe, said the operation was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, following credible intelligence. The suspect, identified as Austine Emenike, popularly known as “Oyibo,” was apprehended while officers recovered a locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns and five live cartridges.
According to the command, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect may be linked to a wider criminal network operating within the state. Police said efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang and recover additional weapons.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at tackling armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
