The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has appealed to the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other candidates to remain committed to the party despite the recent Federal High Court judgment that nullified its registration.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television on Sunday, Dickson dismissed reports suggesting that some candidates were considering leaving the party following the Lokoja court ruling. He expressed confidence that the judgment would be overturned on appeal, insisting the NDC remains united and focused on its 2027 ambitions.
Dickson urged party members to remain calm and avoid making decisions based on the court’s verdict, describing the legal setback as temporary. He maintained that the party’s legal team was already challenging the ruling and expressed optimism that justice would prevail.
The appeal comes amid intensified efforts by the NDC leadership, including Obi and Kwankwaso, to challenge the deregistration ruling and keep the opposition coalition intact ahead of the 2027 general elections.
