In the midst of a crisis affecting the Labour Party, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, asserted that Peter Obi will not receive the LP ticket for the 2027 elections.
He contended that the party can function independently of the LP’s 2023 presidential ticket.
“We will proceed with our 2027 plans without Peter Obi; he will not be granted our ticket,” he stated.
Arabambi also criticized the LP’s acting National Chairperson, Nenadi Usman, and activist, Aisha Yesufu, alleging that they have colluded with Obi.
He indicated that the party would take measures to remove them from its ranks
The LP’s secretary challenged Obi to declare his departure from the party.
“Our objective is to eliminate these individuals—those who represent the essence of political extremism. We do not wish to have them in the Labour Party.
“Now that they have announced their intention to join ADC, we wish them success. Obi has one foot in the Labour Party, one foot in PDP, and one foot in ADC.
“If he believes he possesses the capability to secure seven million votes in the 2027 general elections independently, we encourage him to officially announce his exit from the Labour Party.
“The momentum in 2023 was not due to Peter Obi, but rather a result of EndSARS. Obi merely emerged as a figure during a time when Nigerians were weary of the scandalous administration of Buhari during the EndSARS protests.
“He simply identified the Labour Party as the means to effect that change, and he was fortunate to be in a leadership position,” he remarked.
