A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chibudom Nwuche, has mourned the death of former PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, describing him as a major loss to Nigeria.

Nwuche, who served as Tukur’s deputy at the PDP between 2012 and 2014, described the late politician as his leader, mentor and father figure.

In a condolence message, Nwuche said Tukur made significant contributions to Nigeria through politics, public service and business.

He recalled that Tukur led the PDP with what he described as wisdom, discipline and commitment to national unity during his tenure as national chairman.

According to Nwuche, the late elder statesman also played important roles in the country’s public and economic sectors, including serving as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, governor of the old Gongola State and Minister of Industries.

Tukur also served as a continental business leader through the African Business Roundtable and NEPAD Business Group and held the traditional title of Tafidan Adamawa.

Nwuche said the late politician was committed to mentoring younger people and believed in Nigeria’s potential for development.

He expressed condolences to Tukur’s family, the Fombina Emirate, the Adamawa State Government and people, the PDP and President Bola Tinubu.

Tukur died at the age of 90. He was buried in Yola, Adamawa State, on September 13, with several prominent Nigerians, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and businessman Aliko Dangote, paying tribute to him.
