The Federal Government has revealed that the North-West region of the nation is the primary recipient of capital projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with approvals amounting to N5.97 trillion, which accounts for over 40 percent of the total allocations.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who made this announcement in a statement yesterday, asserted that claims of uneven development by the administration are baseless.

“According to verifiable data, the actual allocation of projects indicates that the North-West is the largest beneficiary, with projects valued at N5.97 trillion, followed by the South-South with N2.41 trillion, North-Central with N1.13 trillion, South-West (excluding Lagos) with N604 billion, South East with N407 billion, and North-East with N400 billion,” Idris stated.

He emphasized that the Tinubu-led government has consistently worked to ensure balance, fairness, and inclusivity across all regions.

“In light of recent insinuations, half-truths, and misinformation being disseminated, we find it necessary to clarify that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has always been guided by the principles of fairness, justice, and equity in the distribution of Federal Government projects, appointments, and opportunities across all six geopolitical zones of our country,” Idris added.

He pointed out that significant infrastructure projects are currently underway throughout the federation, including railways, roads, bridges, and power initiatives. The minister, who highlighted that the administration’s commitment to fairness is also reflected in federal appointments, stated: “President Tinubu has consistently appointed capable Nigerians from every region of the country, based on competence and inclusivity, rather than sectional biases.”

MEANWHILE, former Governor of Jigawa State and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, stated yesterday that no rational individual in the North would support Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

Lamido expressed this during a gathering of the PDP expanded caucus convened in Dutse, Jigawa State.

He remarked that for many years, the North and the citizens of Nigeria have endured the detrimental leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has resulted in poverty, insecurity, and various hardships.

Lamido, nonetheless, charged the APC administrations with imposing “hardship, deceit, and betrayal” upon the Nigerian populace.

He also pointed out that with the recent developments within the PDP, there exists a potential for the party to regain its stability and undertake all necessary actions to rescue the nation.
