Nenadi Usman-Led LP Backs Peter Obi Joining Coalition Talks

The National Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has sanctioned and supported the involvement of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the current coalition discussions aimed at overcoming President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

The Labour Party expressed its full endorsement of the coalition initiative driven by the Nigerian populace, and also reaffirmed Peter Obi’s undeniable right to run in the 2027 elections under its banner – should the ongoing coalition efforts not come to fruition.

In a statement issued by her media aide, Ken Asogwa, Senator Usman condemned certain suspended members of the Labour Party, led by Julius Abure, for opposing Obi’s participation in the ongoing coalition movement intended to rescue Nigeria from the ineffective administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Usman stated that Abure and his associates, who have been expelled for their anti-party conduct, cannot challenge a decision that is evidently grounded in national interest and aimed at dismantling the directionless Tinubu administration.

The statement asserts: “It is important to reiterate that Obi has consistently expressed that his focus is solely on a coalition dedicated to eliminating hunger, insecurity, and poor governance – a vision that is in complete alignment with the founding principles and goals of the Labour Party.

“One is left to ponder whose agenda Julius Abure and his associates are genuinely promoting. Do they truly disagree with Obi and the Labour Party regarding the unprecedented crisis Nigeria is currently facing, which necessitates collective action for resolution?

“Meanwhile, it is somewhat amusing that Abure and his group of entertainers persist in promoting the narrative of a supposed 2024 national convention that was self-convened, unlawful, and ultimately declared illegal by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The continual mention of this alleged convention is not merely deceptive but also represents a blatant disregard for the Supreme Court’s ruling, warranting appropriate action from the relevant legal authorities.

In light of the above, the general public is strongly encouraged to ignore any declarations made by these frauds posing as party leaders. For genuine and credible information concerning the Labour Party, the public is advised to depend exclusively on communications issued by the office of the National Caretaker Committee, headed by Distinguished Senator Nenadi Usman.
