The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, stated that the challenges facing Nigeria did not originate with the current administration and emphasized that President Bola Tinubu has initiated significant reforms to address some of these issues.
He made this statement on Sunday during a special service held to commemorate the 65th Independence Day Celebration at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja.
Senator Akume remarked that every Nigerian has a part to play in the nation’s development.
He expressed, “Each Nigerian has a role in building the Nigeria that we deserve.”
He reaffirmed President Tinubu’s dedication to transforming the country, highlighting several reforms the President has undertaken, including the elimination of subsidies, among others.
“The President requires the support of every Nigerian.
“What President Bola Tinubu is implementing today could have been initiated 39 years ago.
“However, I am confident that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” the SGF remarked.
He also urged for collaboration among the three branches of government.
“We must consistently work together, the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary,” he stated.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation noted that today’s Independence Day celebration serves not only as a commemoration of Nigeria’s liberation from colonial rule but also as a tribute to the founding fathers of the nation who fought for Nigeria’s independence.
