A coalition meeting that included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, among others, was interrupted by delegates from Jigawa State.
The meeting took place at the Abuja Continental Hotel on Sunday and is reported to be a coalition gathering for the North.
Organized by the National Political Consultative Group (North), the meeting faced a brief disruption due to a disagreement regarding representation for Jigawa State.
Tensions escalated after Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, appointed a delegate to represent the state.
In response to the selection, Jigawa delegates rushed the stage, preventing the nominee from speaking and rejecting their representation.
Order was eventually restored after several minutes of negotiations when Mustapha Lamido, the son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, along with another delegate, was chosen to represent the state.
