I’m Staying In NNPP – Kwankwaso

The National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has asserted that he has no intentions of switching to another political party.

During the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, Kwankwaso remarked that the NNPP is performing admirably in Kano and other states, stating, “we are very happy about that.”

He recognized that a significant number of individuals attended the meeting to hear from him in light of recent false news reports suggesting he would make a pivotal decision regarding his future with the NNPP.

“However, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we have our party, and we are content. We are pleased. We are prepared to do whatever is necessary because we are not in a rush,” he stated.

Kwankwaso stressed that any discussions concerning the 2027 general election would be a collective decision, as he values party supremacy.

“If there is to be any negotiation, it will be collective. It will not be solely for the negotiators but for all members of this NNPP family.

“The reality is that there is no one in Kwankwasia today that I am aware of, or even in NNPP, who is expressing a desire to leave,” he remarked.

He urged party members not to be influenced by the excitement surrounding politicians defecting to other parties.

“Those individuals lack understanding and experience. They think they are knowledgeable when, in fact, they are not.

“Even if they are curious to learn, I believe they should come and consult one of us,” he added.
Kwankwaso reminisced about how he lost the 2003 governorship election in Kano, despite being a sitting governor, due to public support for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He pointed out that he regained power eight years later, describing it as a “valuable lesson for everyone.”

He stated that Nigerians have already formed their opinions regarding the 2027 general election, emphasizing that “reality will dictate the people’s votes.”

In his comments, the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, remarked that the NNPP is “the attractive contender in Nigerian politics and democracy,” gaining strength as the nation approaches the 2027 elections.

Ahmed encouraged eligible citizens to sign up for their permanent voter cards.
