The Yobe state government under its Primary Healthcare Management Board and Partners in a joint effort with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency has launched an Integrated Yellow Fever vaccination focusing on 3.6 million individuals, around 85% of the state’s populace.
Dr Mohammed Gana the Commissioner of Health, was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Isa Bukar flagged off the exercise in Damaturu, saying 90% of the qualified nine months to 40 years of age will be vaccinated within 12 days of activity.
“Yellow Fever vaccination campaign has been conducted in many states in the country. Yobe and 2 others will carry out the campaign in November 2024. The Yobe State Ministry of Health and State Primary Healthcare Board in a joint effort with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency and our development partners intend to conduct the integrated yellow fever vaccination campaign from the 12th – 24th November 2024”
“The target is to reach at least 90% of eligible people aged 9 months to 44 years, which translates to over 3.6 million people in the state (85% of the state total population) that will be vaccinated during the campaign” he stated.
The Chief Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Management Board, uncovered that Nigeria is one of the main nations in Africa with countless Yellow Fever diseases as of late.
Led by the Director Immunization and Disease Control, Dr. Umar Chiroma further to explained that 1,608 teams would be dispatched across the 17 local government areas of the state for 12 days beginning from Tuesday 12th to 24th November 2024.
The agents of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Hassan Mshelia and the other partners looked for the acknowledgment of the vaccination in order to get rid of the disease among the populace.
The activity is supposed to be held simultaneously in Yobe, Lagos and Borno states
