Judges of the Federal High Court will begin their 2024 Yuletide holiday on December 16, 2024.
In a statement signed by the Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho on Tuesday, the holiday will end on Monday, January 6, 2025, as the court will resume sitting Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in all judicial Divisions.
This is indicated to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as revised).
The circular noted that during the holiday, only matters that relate to the enforcement of fundamental rights; arrest or release of vessels, and matters that concern dire national interest will be engaged by the holiday judges.
Additionally, during the holiday time frame, the core judicial divisions; Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt Judicial Divisions will be the main courts functional and open to deal with prosecution throughout the holiday.
The list of judges going on holiday includes “the Abuja judicial division -Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman will act as holiday judges.
“Lagos division Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu and in Port-Harcourt division -Justice Ayua and Justice A.T. will act as holiday judges.”
