The Enugu State Government has warned politicians and political groups against the unauthorised display of posters and other campaign materials across the state.
The government said political actors must comply with existing regulations governing the placement of posters and advertisements, warning that indiscriminate pasting could undermine the cleanliness and aesthetics of the state.
The warning comes ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political activities and campaigns gradually intensify across the country.
Authorities urged politicians and their supporters to obtain the necessary approvals before displaying posters in public spaces and to ensure that campaign materials are not placed on restricted structures or locations.
The government also stressed the need for political actors to conduct their activities responsibly and in line with the law.
It warned that anyone who violates the regulations could face appropriate sanctions, urging politicians to respect the state’s environmental and urban development rules.
The government said the enforcement was not aimed at restricting political participation but at ensuring that political activities do not result in the indiscriminate defacement of public spaces.
