A faction of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State has condemned the reported blockade of the convoy of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during his visit to the state.
The group described the incident as unacceptable, stressing that political differences should not be allowed to threaten the freedom of movement or peaceful engagement of political leaders.
The APC faction said opposition politicians should be allowed to visit communities and interact with residents without intimidation or obstruction.
It also called on relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that similar occurrences do not happen in the future.
The group’s position comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and their supporters increasingly engaging in campaigns and mobilisation across the country.
The APC faction urged political actors in Benue and beyond to embrace tolerance and respect democratic principles, warning that actions capable of creating political tension could undermine peaceful participation in the electoral process.
