Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, has declared that Cross River State is fully committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and Governor Bassey Otu’s second-term ambition in the 2027 general elections.
Edu made the declaration during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Calabar, where she said the party had strong support across the state.
The former minister, who is the Co-Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Women Mobilisation Directorate, described the rally as evidence of the party’s unity and growing mobilisation ahead of the next general elections.
“Cross River State is 100 per cent behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and Governor Bassey Otu’s second-term ambition,” she said.
Edu also called on APC members, women, youths and grassroots mobilisers to intensify their activities across communities to strengthen the party’s support ahead of the elections.
She said sustained community engagement, voter education and mobilisation would be necessary to achieve the party’s objectives in 2027.
“The rally is a powerful demonstration of the unity, strength, and unwavering commitment of the APC family in Cross River,” she added.
The rally attracted several top APC leaders, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and governors from Cross River, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Edo states.
Other attendees included members of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, political stakeholders and supporters.
