On Wednesday in Abuja, the All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed its support and collaboration for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta as he officially joined the party. Mr. Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, conveyed this assurance in a statement welcoming the governor to the party. He stated that the APC was extremely pleased with Oborevwori’s decision to align with them, along with prominent leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
This group included the former governor and PDP’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as senior officials from the administration. Morka further noted that the defectors comprised PDP leaders from Delta, members of the State House of Assembly, Local Government Chairmen, and Councillors. ‘Our esteemed party embraces this significant development and assures the governor, along with the incoming leaders and members from Delta PDP, of our complete cooperation and integration within the APC family.
This transition follows a consistent trend of PDP leaders and members migrating to the APC across the state, including members of the Delta Unity Group in Ika Federal Constituency. We are thrilled that Delta is now an APC state, ready to significantly contribute to the success and realization of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as to the lasting welfare and prosperity of the people of Delta and all Nigerians,’ stated the APC spokesperson.
