The All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party, has scheduled its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting for July 24, 2025, to select a new substantive National Chairman for the party.
Following an emergency meeting held at the party’s national secretariat on Monday, the National Working Committee (NWC), under the leadership of Deputy National Secretary Festus Fuanter, stated that this meeting will provide the party with the opportunity to nominate a new chairman.
He further mentioned that a notification regarding the NEC meeting has been sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the meantime, Ali Bukar Dalori has taken on the role of Acting National Chairman of the party as of Monday.
Dalori, who previously served as the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the APC, stepped into the position of acting chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje from the role of National Chairman.
Ganduje, hailing from the North-West zone, took over the leadership of the party in August 2023 after the resignation of his predecessor, Abdullahi Adamu, from the North-Central zone.
Dalori has assured party members of his commitment to fulfilling his new responsibilities with transparency, inclusiveness, and a unified purpose.
The acting chairman expressed his readiness to collaborate with members as partners in the shared mission of maintaining the party’s unity, discipline, and direction.
Dalori urged NEC members to focus on the broader objectives, provide effective governance to the Nigerian populace, and enhance democracy within the party’s framework.
