The All Progressive Congress (APC) has initiated the membership revalidation process in Ekiti State as candidates compete for the party’s nomination ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election in the region.
The Chairman of the National Membership Revalidation Committee, who also serves as the Edo APC Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, indicated that the initiative received approval from the party’s National Headquarters.
Speaking to reporters in Ado-Ekiti, Tenebe clarified that the revalidation process, which is set to last for two weeks, is essential to ensure that all financial members of the party are accurately recorded in the membership register, allowing them to participate in voting and be eligible for election.
He emphasized that a monitoring team has been deployed to various wards and units throughout the state to guarantee adherence, which will further enhance the party’s registration database.
He stated, “Our task is in accordance with the stipulations of the APC Constitution, specifically Article 9.3.1, which requires that party members must be financially current to qualify for voting or candidacy.
“As the party gears up for the Ekiti State gubernatorial primary election, this revalidation process is a vital component to ensure that all financial members of the party are accurately recorded in the Membership Register. This will ensure that only those who are current with their dues can vote and stand for election.
“Consequently, all members of our esteemed party who have paid their monthly membership dues of N200 for the last 12 months are encouraged to visit their respective wards to verify their financial status. This is the primary aim of the ongoing exercise.
“We found it necessary to convene a press briefing today because the APC is a party that values openness and transparency. We are committed to and practice internal democracy. This is the core purpose of this committee’s mandate from the National Headquarters in Abuja to effectively carry out this revalidation exercise.
This revalidation will further enhance our registration database. The data currently being collected will play a crucial role in the overall registration process and will demonstrate our expansion as a party.
It is evident that the APC continues to lead in political advancement within the country, from fostering internal democracy to mobilizing membership. I am assured that other political parties will struggle to compete with our initiatives. As we near the primaries, the weaknesses in other parties will start to become apparent.
