Residents of Imoga community in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State have called for urgent government intervention following the killing of a local farmer, raising fresh concerns over insecurity in the area.
According to Punch Newspaper, the Edo Community Seeks Justice campaign follows the death of the farmer, who was allegedly attacked by suspected herders while returning from his farm.
Community leaders said the incident has left residents living in fear, with many farmers now reluctant to return to their farmlands because of growing security threats.
The Edo Community Seeks Justice appeal urged the Edo State Government and security agencies to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing while strengthening security across farming communities.
Residents warned that continued attacks on farmers could threaten agricultural activities and the livelihoods of families that depend on farming for survival. They also appealed for improved security patrols to prevent further incidents.
