Six Killed as Gas Truck Explodes at Kogi Army Checkpoint

No fewer than six people lost their lives after a gas-laden truck exploded at an Army checkpoint along the Abuja-Lokoja Federal Highway in Kogi State.

The explosion occurred on Tuesday night near the military checkpoint, triggering a massive fire that engulfed nearby vehicles and property. The incident caused panic among motorists and residents as emergency responders battled to contain the blaze.

Eyewitnesses said the impact of the explosion was severe, with several vehicles destroyed and goods worth millions of naira consumed by the fire. Rescue teams and security personnel were deployed to evacuate victims and restore order at the scene.

Authorities are yet to release the identities of those who died, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion
