Rotimi Amaechi, the former state lead representative of Rivers State, has talked about his experiences dealing with the security crisis that swept the state during his time in office.
Ahead of the 2027 election, Amaechi, who is running for president on the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) platform, said that when his administration took power, criminals had taken over Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
In a video clip posted on his social media page on Thursday, Amaechi addressed a few stakeholders and claimed that his administration had restored Port Harcourt’s economy after it had been decimated for six months.
According to the former state lead representative, his experiences have given him an advantage over other aspirants in the opposition party.
He said, “I served as a governor in a state where people were being killed and being kidnapped. Robbery was on the increase; people couldn’t go out in Port Harcourt.
Hospitals were in trouble, and parties were not happening. Men only had their wives to amuse them, but six months after we arrived, we drove the criminals out.
“We called people to go back to work and parties and asked them to do whatever they wanted to do. So I am the only aspirant of the party that does not only come with experience but has served in a state where what is facing us now has faced us.”
