Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, the chairman of the Lagos State House Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, attended a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday at the palace of His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Saliu, the Oloworo of Oworonshoki, to talk about the recent building demolitions in Oworonshoki.
In the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Okanlawon, who represents Kosofe Constituency I, offered condolences to the impacted families, stating that he was praying for each and every family affected by the exercise.
He revealed that the Lagos State Government had pledged to provide compensation to the victims, and that some of the recovered property will be developed and given back to the legitimate owners of the properties that had been demolished.
The congressman clarified his position by stating that he was not previously aware of or involved in the demolition process. He gave residents his word that he would collaborate with the appropriate authorities to ensure due process, justice, and transparency in addressing their complaints.
Hon. Okanlawon reaffirmed his dedication to his people’s well-being, promising to support them through challenging times and to keep up the defense of their rights.
