Former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has embarked on his first significant political engagement since stepping down from his position three months ago.
Ganduje participated in a closed-door meeting with Kano APC stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday.

The meeting aimed to enhance the party’s structure in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Notable attendees included Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other party affiliates.
“Let’s explore ways to motivate our constituents to register. Thus far, we are performing admirably, and we want to reassure the people of Kano State that our members will register, ensuring that during the election, we turn out in significant numbers to secure victory,” he stated.
Deputy Senate President Barau also voiced his support for President Bola Tinubu.

He remarked, “We fully support what the President is doing and what he has accomplished for our country.
We have never requested anything from him that he has not fulfilled for us, including educational institutions and various projects.”
Kano APC leaders committed to reclaiming the state from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in 2027. The NNPP currently governs Kano State under Governor Abba Yusuf.
Ganduje resigned as APC National Chairman on June 27, citing “urgent and important personal matters.”

In his resignation letter, he expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve at the highest level within the party.
Following his departure, Ali Dalori, Deputy National Chairman (North), temporarily took over leadership until the APC National Executive Committee elected Nentawe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman on July 24.

A former two-term governor of Kano State, Ganduje led the APC nationally from August 2023 to June 2025. His leadership faced criticism regarding internal zoning issues but retained the party’s influence.

In July 2025, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
