Siminalayi Fubara, the state lead representative of Rivers State, has been encouraged by Okechukwu Osuoha, the PDP’s deputy national legal adviser, to remain faithful to the party when he returns to office following the expiration of the six-month emergency rule.
Osuoha underlined that responsibility, unwavering devotion to the PDP, and a fresh dedication to promoting peace and stability in the oil-rich state must be the cornerstones of Fubara’s comeback to power.
He explained that Fubara’s suspension resulted from the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in March, that the state lead representative must now return to his constitutional duties as no extension has been given.
The issue is that there was an emergency declaration by the President, constitutionally, which is allowed. He has to come back to the office because the suspension was for six months, and there has been no extension.
“Therefore, he must return and assume his role as executive governor of Rivers State,” Osuoha declared.
Osuoha emphasized that Fubara’s return should signal a new stage of growth and healing, while acknowledging the concerns surrounding the legitimacy of suspending an elected governor under emergency rule.
“Every Nigerian expects a cordial relationship between the executive and the legislative arms of Rivers State, between the state lead representative and the House of Assembly,” he continued.
He also urged Fubara to mend fences with his political benefactors, saying, “Let there also be a good relationship between him and his godfather, whoever made it possible for him to secure that position.”
“There must be peace and unity in the state so that development can take place because Rivers has suffered a lot.”
Osuoha urged the state lead representative to get involved in PDP operations and emphasized the value of party loyalty.
He is still a member of the PDP and should participate fully in party affairs.
The party is the best. The party will support you and come to your aid if you are having any issues.
“I want to see him participating fully in the PDP so Nigerians will know he belongs to the party,” he advised.
