Senator Kabiru Marafa has officially announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign in Zamfara State made this revelation.
Marafa’s announcement followed a meeting held by his political structure last Wednesday/Thursday, during which leaders unanimously decided to leave the APC, citing reasons such as injustice, neglect, and the escalating insecurity in Zamfara State.
In a communiqué released at the conclusion of the meeting, the group expressed serious concern regarding the worsening security conditions, referencing recent data that identified Zamfara as the state with the highest incidence of kidnapping in the nation.
Additionally, the group accused the Federal Government of politicizing security issues during the recent Kaura Namoda bye-election, claiming that security forces were dispatched to ensure the APC’s electoral success rather than to safeguard lives.
Regarding political appointments, Marafa’s supporters criticized what they referred to as the intentional marginalization of Zamfara, despite the state’s significant contribution to the APC’s presidential victory in 2023.
They pointed out that while other states in the North-West secured numerous ministerial positions, Zamfara was allocated only one, and communities affected by banditry have received minimal or no federal assistance.
The statement, which was signed by Comrade Bashir Muhammad Mafara (Chairman) and Dr. Mannir Bature Tsafe (Secretary), concluded by stating that the group will soon reveal its future political direction in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Zamfara.
