The newly appointed Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated that the party remains welcoming to members who have departed for other political parties, encouraging their return.
When questioned by a news source on Thursday regarding the speculation about the potential return of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Yilwatda responded, “I informed you that our doors are open.”
He expressed that, over time, the achievements of President Bola Tinubu will entice those who previously left the APC to rejoin the party.
“When the appropriate time arrives, it will become evident. Just allow people more time, and you will observe that individuals will begin to recognize the party’s manifesto, the government’s performance, and the difficult decisions made by the president,” he remarked.
“If you are a governor and you find that, in the past month, the government’s revenue has surged by over 40 percent, would you not desire for that government to continue?”
Kwankwaso was once a member of the APC before transitioning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July 2018. He subsequently joined the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in March 2022.
Yilwatda, who served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction prior to his appointment, was elected as the APC chairman on Thursday following his nomination and election by the members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.
The indigene of Plateau State succeeded Abdullahi Ganduje as the party chairman after Ganduje resigned from the position in June, citing personal reasons.
