Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, along with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the region, has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
“Yesterday, I convened with the @OfficialPDPNig Leadership Caucus in Osogbo following several weeks of discussions with stakeholders throughout Osun — including traditional leaders, civil servants, market representatives, and grassroots party members.
“I am delighted to announce the outcomes: I will continue my affiliation with the PDP, the party that has provided me the opportunity to serve the esteemed citizens of Osun. I have received unanimous endorsement from the Osun PDP for a second term in 2026.
“Our party in Osun has also pledged support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, acknowledging him as a distinguished son of our state. The PDP remains the most favored and reliable party throughout Osun State. I will persist in executing our Five-Point Agenda with renewed commitment and focus. The affection and backing from the people of Osun continually motivate me. Together, we advance,” he stated.

This announcement comes after months of speculation regarding Adeleke’s political trajectory, with rumors indicating he might switch allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the president’s party.
Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, President Bola Tinubu, Davido, and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, during their visit to the President in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The speculation intensified after Adeleke, his brother Adedeji Adeleke, and their nephew, Afrobeats artist David Adeleke (commonly known as Davido), made a private visit to President Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos on June 3.
On July 16, former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, reignited the discussion by labeling Adeleke as a “political orphan” seeking to join the ruling party.
He rejected assertions that the governor was being sought after by the APC, even in light of his discussions with Tinubu and prominent APC members.
Nevertheless, the governor has repeatedly refuted such claims.
In May, at a gathering with party stakeholders, the governor stated that he had no intention of departing from the PDP to join the APC.
Governor Adeleke, in a subsequent statement on 5 July, reiterated his allegiance to the opposition party.
