Bakare Clarifies No Formal Agreement Existed With Buhari For Presidential Succession

There was no formal agreement for former President Muhammadu Buhari to cede power to him, according to Pastor Tunde Bakare, General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, or CGCC.

Buhari served from 2015 until 2023. From 1983 until 1985, he served as the military’s head of state.

Bakare hinted that Buhari would have preferred him as his successor.

Bakare stated, “There was no written pact between us.

“He’s late. I will never say anything unfair about him.

However, there was a certain expression that said, “You are one of those that I would love to succeed me,” and he gave it his all.

Bakare further disclosed that Buhari encouraged all presidential candidates to freely select their successors in a meeting he called prior to the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

Bakare claims that Buhari stated: “I have allowed governors to choose those who will succeed them or go for a second term.

“I’m asking you today to freely choose the person I desire to succeed me.”
