On Sunday, numerous supporters from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Katsina officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Mustapha Inuwa, who is the leader of the coalition in the state.
Membership cards were distributed to the new members, encompassing all genders and representing all 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
Their transition was announced during the launch of the Katsina State chapter of the party.
During the ceremony held at the Continental Event Center in Katsina, Lawal Batagarawa, the state’s National representative of the National Political Coalition Group, lamented the alarming increase in insecurity, poverty, inflation, and the decline in the value of the Naira.
Batagarawa noted that many industries have collapsed since Bola Tinubu’s administration began in 2023.
He emphasized the importance of unity among citizens, party members, and supporters, expressing his belief that the party will succeed in combating terrorism, banditry, poverty, and illiteracy in the nation.
Meanwhile, Usman Musa Wamba, the Chairman of the Katsina State Chapter of the ADC, expressed optimism regarding the party’s performance in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
He also called for greater support from the electorate, particularly the youth, so they can reap the benefits of democracy.
One of the new members, Aliyu Saulawa, who previously held a membership card with the APC and served as the Director of Media for the Buhari Campaign Organisation, as well as the former National Coordinator of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Movement in Nigeria, stated that the APC has significantly failed to fulfill its campaign promises to the populace, especially in the North.
He asserted that the party has not accomplished even one percent of its commitments made during the recent elections.
“Without security, there is no such thing as a livelihood. If you observe the Northwest, we are primarily peasant farmers and merchants. A lack of security means we essentially lack everything, including a collapsed educational system. Frankly, I cannot continue to stay in the APC,” he stated.
In a related matter, the Katsina State Chapter of the PDP, under the leadership of the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Yakubu Lado, held an expanded caucus meeting titled: “Let’s Make Katsina State Work Again,” at the State PDP Headquarters in Katsina.
According to Lado, the purpose of the meeting was to dispel any doubts regarding rumors about the demise of the PDP in Katsina State.
He characterized the former leader’s admission into the party as a negative sign for the 2023 general elections.
“The PDP structure remains intact in Katsina State. We have a message to convey to you to share with your constituents.
The presence of the former leader in Katsina contributed to our loss in the 2023 General Elections, as many were dissatisfied with his behavior. The history of the PDP over the years is well known to everyone,” Lado remarked.
