The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has suspended Muhammad Shehu Koko, a former member of the House of Representatives for Koko/Maiyama Federal Constituency, along with nine other party officials from Koko Local Government Area. Among those suspended are Muhammad Danyado, the APC Vice Chairman of Koko LGA; Biyaminu Muhammad, the Secretary; and Talatu Zauro, the Women Leader.

Additional suspensions include the youth leader, financial secretary, welfare secretary, and several other officials. A suspension letter obtained by Channels Television cites alleged anti-party activities, disloyalty, and harassment of party executives as reasons for the action. The letter was co-signed by the local APC chairman, Muhammad Maibarga, local government executive chairman, Sirajo Usman Koko, and 14 other party stakeholders.

However, associates of Koko indicated to Channels Television that they were not authorized to comment on his behalf, suggesting that the suspension may be related to his reported plans to run for a senatorial seat, which has reportedly caused unrest among certain influential members of the APC in Kebbi State. In other news, the Kebbi State Government has announced the allocation of over ₦266 million for the tuition fees of 100 Kebbi students studying in India.

This announcement was made by Kebbi State Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Tunga, during a press conference in Birnin Kebbi, where he was represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Hussaini Tata. The commissioner praised the governor’s efforts as a significant advancement for education in the state, stating that the Kebbi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, has approved the payment of ₦266,964,560 for the tuition of these students enrolled in various universities in India.

The Ministry of Higher Education expresses its gratitude to His Excellency. Undoubtedly, His Excellency’s commitment to advancing both academic and ethical standards in higher education will be remembered in history, as noted by Abdullahi-Tunga.
