Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, praised President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Army for their effective efforts in curbing insurgency and kidnapping, asserting that the President has established a solid groundwork for the nation’s prosperity.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau emphasized Tinubu’s achievements during his initial two years in office, even in light of differing views from Senator Orji Kalu and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum regarding the increasing violence in the South-East and North-East regions.

Barau said, “For instance, hundreds of terrorists have been neutralised in the North West geopolitical zone. Yes, there are pockets of cases of kidnapping and attacks, but they are minimal compared to the coming of this administration. The instances of incessant kidnapping on the Abuja/Kaduna road have become history. In the Southeast, the activities of unknown gunmen terrorising the region have been on the downward side.

“In the North East, Boko Haram was almost completely eradicated until the recent attacks in some parts of Borno State. I am confident that our gallant members of the Armed Forces will act decisively to smoke them out permanently.

“The people of the remaining five states in the North East live peacefully and conduct their lawful businesses—commendation to our gallant officers and men of the Armed Forces and other sister security agencies.”

He also highlighted the initiation of phase one of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), aimed at revolutionizing agriculture through innovation and investment, attributing the success of such initiatives to improved peace.

Barau encouraged Nigerians to back Tinubu’s endeavors, asserting that “President Tinubu has left no stone unturned in addressing the country’s challenges. He has been working genuinely to correct the fiscal misalignments. He has attracted foreign direct investments worth billions of dollars, paid the forex backlog and cleared the ways and means of the trillion naira he inherited from the last administration.”

Recognizing the persistent difficulties, Barau stated, “It is not easy to ‘rebuild a shattered building,’” but assured that Tinubu is patiently working toward transformation.

He urged for strong public backing of the government’s initiatives aimed at benefiting the people and promoting the welfare of the masses, in order to guide Nigeria towards prosperity.

He concluded, “To this end, I urge all to give maximum support to the government to continue with these people-oriented and pro-masses initiatives conceived to take our country to the Eldorado.”
