Newly inducted Edo State Lead Representative, Monday Okpebholo, has requested the prompt and endless suspension of the collection of all revenues in Edo, particularly in motor parks and others pending further updates.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Edo State Governor, Hon. Fred Itua, said the Lead Representative additionally requested the state commissioner of police to arrest any individual who spurns the order.
Okpebholo said he would review the issues surrounding the collections soon and settle on the way forward.
“The collection of revenues in the State has been suspended endlessly. Anybody seen taking revenues on behalf of the State Government will be dealt with.
“The Commissioner of Police is hereby ordered to arrest anyone who spurns the order and gathers any sort of revenues for the State Government.
“The Governor will soon resolve the issues and concerns raised. He will give new mandates soon. Pending the time he will address these issues Until then, no one is approved to gather revenues for the State Government.”
Okpebholo was inducted as the Chief Executive of Edo State on Tuesday, denoting an end to the eight-year stint of Godwin Obaseki in charge of issues in the South-South state.
The swearing-in ceremony happened at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital, two months after the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured the pass to the Dennis Osadebe House.
Okpebholo took his oath of office alongside his running mate Dennis Idahosa around 12:55 pm, and from that point rode in an open van around the arena, waving to cheers from allies.
