Court Schedule Nov.20 For Ganduje , Others In Misappropriation Hearing

The Kano State High Court has scheduled Nov. 20 for the hearing of all impending applications in the persistent occurrence of alleged bribery and misappropriation of public resources against the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and seven others.

Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, and three corporate entities—Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited—are confronting an eight-count charge documented by the state government.

Included in the charges are alleged bribery, misappropriation, and the diversion of public resources adding up to billions of naira.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, the court was scheduled to hear a preliminary objection from the sixth defendant.

Counsel for the plaintiff, Mr Adeola Adedipe, SAN, educated the court regarding their status to continue , noting that a witness had headed out from Lagos to attend the hearing.

Nonetheless, counsel for the first, second, and fourth defendants, Mr Offiong Offiong, SAN, expressed that they had not been served the essential archives, including the plaintiff’s counter affidavit and the preliminary objection.

He requested an adjournment to permit time to audit the filings.

Essentially, counsel for the third and seventh defendants, Mr. Taye Falola, noted they had likewise not been served the archives.

Mr. Taye Falola affirmed the documenting of a preliminary objection on Oct. 10 and requested a new hearing date.

The sixth defendant’s counsel, Mr. Nureini Jimoh, SAN, communicated availability to continue with their application, while the fifth and eighth defendants’ attorneys, Abdul Adamu SAN and Mr. Faruk Asekome, repeated similar worries about not getting the plaintiff’s filings.

Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu emphasised the significance of appropriate assistance of records, overruling the plaintiff’s solicitation to promptly continue.

The judge hence adjourned the case until Nov. 20 for the hearing of every single pending applications.

The case is drawing in huge consideration because of the great profile nature of the defendants, especially Ganduje, who was is the APC’s National Chairman.
