Six Lead Representatives of the South-West geo-political zone converged in Lagos on Monday and appointed Lead Representative Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the Centre of Excellence, Lagos State as the new Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.
The Lead Representatives converged at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, Office of Lead Representative Sanwo-Olu, and after hours of consultation issued a dispatch.
Sanwo-Olu, briefing the state house correspondents after the meeting, stated that the Lead Representatives appointed him as the new chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.
He succeeded the late Ondo State Lead Representative, Ogbeni Rotimi Akeredolu.
In any case, he was silent on the decision taken on the matter of the ongoing minimum wage saga between the Federal Government and Organised Labour.
The Lead Representative said they await the outcome of discussions between both parties.
News sources detailed that the six Lead Representatives of the South-West geo-political zone met in the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, Office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for an urgent meeting.
As at 12 noon on Monday, all the Lead Representatives had arrived and then went in for the meeting.
By 11.30 a.m., three of the six Lead Representatives had arrived at the state House. Ogun State Lead Representatives, Dapo Abiodun, was said to be among the early arrivals.
Lead Representatives of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; Osun State, Ademola Adeleke; Ondo State, Luky Aiyedatiwa, and Ekiti, AbiodunOyebanji, were present at the meeting.
