The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Aisha Dahiru-Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, has received 21 local government chairmen who defected to the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The defecting chairmen were received into the APC at an event attended by party leaders and supporters in the state.
Binani welcomed the politicians into the APC, describing their decision as a significant development for the party as it prepares for the governorship contest.
The APC candidate said the new entrants would strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and contribute to its efforts to secure victory across the state.
She urged the defectors to work with existing party members and contribute to building a stronger organisation ahead of the election.
The development is expected to strengthen the APC’s presence at the local government level, particularly because council chairmen maintain significant grassroots political networks.
The defectors also pledged their support for the APC and its candidates, saying their decision was based on their political convictions and the direction of the party.
The mass movement into the APC comes as political parties in Adamawa intensify efforts to consolidate their structures ahead of the governorship election.
