The lawmaker representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Jimoh Ibrahim, on said President Bola Tinubu’s government would use technology to tackle the nation’s security challenges.
Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, said the Tinubu administrtaion would deploy Artificial Intelligence to address insecurity in 2025, making reference to the N4.91 trillion defence and security allocation in Tinubu’s budget proposal.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) member portrayed the coming year as an intense one for criminals, saying the ongoing administration intends to create applications to track down criminals, kidnappers, and terrorists.
“He will use AI to the security personnel to make life uncomfortable for them,” said on a telivision programme.
President Tinubu presented the N49.7 trillion Budget Proposal before a joint session of the National Assembly with the security and defence, infrastructure, health, and education swallowing a few high allocations
The President listed a few features of the budget as defence and security – N4.91 trillion, infrastructure – N4.06 trillion, health – N2.4 trillion, education – N3.5 trillion, among others.
During the interview, Ibrahim contended that with security swallowing about N5 trillion, the country’s financial fortunes would be turned around.
“If he is able to do that with ₦5 trillion, it would lead to more revenue as we are able to produce more crude oil. This way you make more money.
“If we spend N5 trillion on security, we would have more peace and produce more oil,” Jimoh stated.
