President Bola Tinubu has been bestowed with the chieftaincy title of Dike si mba Anambra by the traditional leaders of Anambra State. This title, which means ‘warrior from the Diaspora,’ was awarded to the President by Igwe Chidubem Iweka, the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, during a ceremony held at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Thursday.
Tinubu’s visit to the state was part of a one-day working trip aimed at inaugurating various projects completed under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration. During the event, Igwe Iweka elaborated that the title was given in acknowledgment of Tinubu’s significant contributions to the nation. ‘This title is conferred by all the royal fathers from the 179 communities of Anambra State. It is known as Dike si mba Anambra, which signifies ‘warrior from the Diaspora,’ and it recognizes your commendable efforts throughout the country,’ Iweka stated. ‘We extend our welcome to you in Anambra and commend you for accepting our invitation.
Your governance efforts are making a positive difference across the nation.’ The traditional ruler also emphasized the infrastructure advancements, including vital roads that connect to the Second Niger Bridge, as part of Tinubu’s governance legacy.
In his acceptance address, President Tinubu conveyed his appreciation for the recognition. He emphasized the significance of unity in fostering national development, asserting that Nigeria’s rich diversity should serve as a foundation for economic prosperity. The president urged for joint efforts aimed at the country’s progress. He also expressed profound gratitude and honor for receiving a chieftaincy title from the traditional leaders of the state, characterizing the event as a significant and treasured occasion.
The ceremony was graced by numerous dignitaries, including National Security Adviser Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu, governors from Ogun, Imo, Abia, and Enugu states, as well as the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi. During his trip, President Tinubu inaugurated several important projects in Anambra, such as the New State Government House, the Governor’s Lodge, Solution Fun City, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy, along with various initiatives at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka.
