President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ojukaye Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The appointment was made public in a statement by ONSA’s Head of Strategic Communications, Zakari Mijinyawa,
He portrayed the appointment as part of the government’s obligation to guaranteeing a steady, feasible, and secure energy supply for the nation.
The statement featured that this move highlights President Tinubu’s focus on backing energy security and tending to supply chain issues.
“In his new role, Amachree will oversee key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security, as well as strengthen community participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources to support short and long-term energy sustainability,” the statement read.
“The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, congratulates Hon. Flag Amachree on this appointment.”
Amachree will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, energy sector regulators, international partners, and community leaders, to carry out solutions to Nigeria’s energy challenges.
Amachree holds a degree in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School (LBS), and is well-positioned to lead this critical unit, as per an assertion.
The Energy Security Directorate (ESD), a recently created unit in ONSA, is saddled with coordinating policies, safeguarding critical framework, managing data, overseeing security coordination, offering risk advisory services, and building vital alliances within Nigeria’s energy sector.
