The Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has officially appointed Prof. Ibibia Lucky-Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). He has urged Prof. Worika to utilize his extensive experience to improve governance within the state.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday evening at the Executive Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt, representing a pivotal moment in the administrator’s initiative to stabilize governance and rebuild public confidence in Rivers State.
In his speech, Retired Vice Admiral Ibas highlighted that Prof. Worika’s selection was not merely an administrative choice but a strategic decision aimed at strengthening the government’s dedication to law, order, and effective governance.
He stated, “To our new SSG, the challenges ahead are significant, yet your proven track record assures us of your capabilities. Rivers State requires your intellect, determination, and unwavering commitment. Together, we will embark on a new era of progress for this esteemed state.”
The administrator acknowledged Prof. Worika’s proficiency in law, policy, and international governance, expressing his belief that the new SSG would be instrumental in ensuring that policies and decisions are in line with the administration’s goal of stabilizing the political landscape and laying the groundwork for democratic governance.
He reiterated his administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and service, encouraging the newly appointed SSG to collaborate closely with civil servants to facilitate effective governance.
“You have no time to relax. It is essential that you roll up your sleeves and begin working with the team. Our civil servants are vital stakeholders, and we must engage with them to ensure the state operates efficiently during this administration,” he emphasized.
“To the Permanent Secretaries and all civil servants, I once again request your cooperation and support as we strive to meet our objectives during this period,” he concluded.
