Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s nominee for state lead representative of Lagos state in 2023, has made it clear that he will not support President Bola Tinubu in his bid to take office in 2027.
In response to queries during an interview , Rhodes-Vivour stated on Sunday that it would be a complete waste of his time to do so.
“I will rather go and focus on my business, my work, and my family. That [aligning with Tinubu] will be a complete waste of time.
He stated, “The reason why we are in politics is to make the lives of Lagosians better; it is to restore Lagos to its old glory, glory that a lot of people might not really be familiar with in terms of the history of Lagos, and the greatness that Lagos once was.”
The politician went on to say that it would be a complete waste of time for any party to prevent him from making the most of Lagos’ commonwealth for the benefit of its citizens.
He said that if the dominance of what he called “agberocracry” was removed, Lagos would be a better place.
Rhodes-Vivour, who just joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from the Labour Party, stated that he made the decision to challenge the ruling party.
He also said that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, was aware of his decision to move to the ADC.
When asked if he would run for the Lagos State governorship election in 2027 on the platform of the ADC, he said, “by God’s grace.”
