Governors affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are gathering in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, from Sunday to Monday to discuss significant issues that pose a threat to the party’s stability and future.
A primary focus of the meeting will be the political turmoil in Rivers State, particularly the ongoing legal dispute at the Supreme Court regarding the federal government’s declaration of a state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.
The meeting, as confirmed by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, is anticipated to cover a variety of topics, including efforts to establish a united opposition coalition in preparation for the 2027 general elections, the prolonged postponement of National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, and the current leadership crisis within the party.
Michael Ogunsina, the Acting Publicity Secretary of the party in Oyo State, informed The Guardian on Sunday that nearly all the governors representing the party had already arrived in Ibadan.
