Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, says he will seek God’s guidance before determining whether to seek reelection in 2027.
At a ceremony hosted by the Oha Isiala Ngwa People of the Isiala Ngwa North and South local government districts of the state, Otti announced his stance at Sam Ihesiulor Stadium in Okpuala Ngwa.
Njoku Ukoha, the state lead representative’s spokesperson, said in a statement that 2027 will be in God’s hands while thanking the people for their support.
“Just like 2023 was in God’s hands, 2027 will be in God’s hands,” the state lead representative was cited as adding. “So, while I thank you for this endorsement because I see it as an endorsement of what has been achieved so far, I also thank you for making predictions.
All I would say that, I would go back and consult with my God. And as time goes on, my response will be made public. Because, as I said the other day, I know my people are waiting.
We are focusing on Aba because we are aware that it can bring in enough money to help us develop other areas of the state. “Aba occupies a prime place in our strategy because that is our major commercial hub. Not just for Abia, but the South-East and South-South,”Otti said.
The state lead representative stated that his government is working concurrently throughout the state and reiterated his administration’s dedication to attaining inclusive governance.
He declared that the Mgboko–Ntigha road project would be finished by December.
He took advantage of the occasion to state that all impacted landowners had received full compensation and that the decision to locate Abia Airport in Nsulu was made solely on the basis of technical merits rather than political reasons.
In addition, he called the Abia Airport project an ambitious endeavor that aims to improve the people’s economy in the long run by becoming more than just an aviation facility but a full-fledged development hub.
“We are not just building an airport; we are building an airport city. A three or four-star hotel is going to be there, and even the Nigeria Air Force is going to have a base there. There are going to be markets and shopping plazas within the facility.
“We have fully compensated all those whose land was impacted.” It is not our fault if someone has not received payment. Otti explains, “Perhaps they gave the incorrect account number, or there are three or four persons vying for the same slot.”
