The Edo State Governorship APC Campaign Council has raised concerns, inditing Lead Representative Godwin Obaseki of intending to shut down Edo State through mass dissent beginning on September 15, 2024.
Moreover, it claimed that he was attempting to carry out same with other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lead Representatives to create a national chaos.
In a press statement conveyed by the Director of Media, Prince Kassim Afegbua, the council claimed that Lead Representative Obaseki tabled out his motive during a meeting at the Edo State Government House, Benin City, on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
Afegbua alleged that the meeting was allegedly attended by individuals supposedly complicit in the killing of Inspector Akor Onu, who, as indicated by the APC Campaign Council, were yet to surrender to the police.
He asserted that an Assistant Commissioner of Police was protecting the individuals, adding that the officer was working closely with Obaseki’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) to undermine law enforcement efforts.
The press statement further asserted that last week, seven APC members and three PDP members were apprehended by the Commander of the 4th Brigade at Inikorogha and while the PDP members were allegedly set free right away, the APC members were still confined until their legal team intervened on Sunday.
The assertion likewise claimed that Lead Representative Obaseki was empowering other PDP controlled states to delay the resumption of schools as part of a nationwide dissent against the APC led Federal Government.
The APC Campaign Council then called on security agencies, especially the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to make dire moves to forestall a breakdown of law and order, as the Edo gubernatorial election is just two weeks away.
