NMA Distances Itself from Nationwide Strike

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has clarified that it is not participating in the ongoing nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

In a statement on Monday, NMA Secretary General Dr. Benjamin Egbo expressed support for the NLC and TUC’s approach to advocating for their demands and urged the federal government to address their concerns.

“Although the NMA is not affiliated with organized labour in Nigeria, we empathize with the suffering and hardships faced by Nigerians,” said Dr. Egbo. “The Association has not declared a strike, and doctors will remain at their posts to provide healthcare services.”

The NMA also urged the government and all relevant stakeholders to consider the plight of the average Nigerian and take necessary actions to resolve the current issues.
